Originally from Burlington, NC, Joe Wade first came to Shelba D. Johnson Trucking in 1999 from Dixon Hughes, PLLC in High Point, NC as a financial consultant. Having worked at Lowe’s Companies, Collins & Aikman and Burlington Industries, Joe brought broad experience in cost accounting, operations, systems, finances and internal controls. Joe became sole owner of Shelba D. Johnson Trucking in April of 2002.
Joe Wade attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, from which he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Joe also has a Bachelor of Administrative Science Degree in Accounting from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. In addition, Joe has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Duke University in Durham, NC. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in the State of North Carolina.
Joe played football, ran track and wrestled at Walter M. Williams High School in Burlington, NC. He was also intramural manager and dorm president while at UNC-Chapel Hill. Joe has also taught as an adjunct professor in business administration for Gardner Webb University.
In his free time, Joe enjoys attending and following Tar Heel sports, especially football and basketball. He plays a little golf here and there, enjoys going to the beach, reading, and working out at the YMCA when he has time. He likes to garden and especially enjoys planting tomatoes, cucumbers and other vegetables. Joe is also a beekeeper.
Joe and his wife Marie Wade have two sons, Joseph and Daniel, who both now work for the company.
Marie is a native of Greensboro, NC and a graduate of Page High School. She received an Associate of Arts Degree from Guilford Technical Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Gardner Webb University. She has worked for a number of companies and organizations including Hospice of the Piedmont, Wilkes Literacy and Applied Management Systems. She and Joe have been married for over 30 years and have two sons, Joseph and Daniel. She has lived in Greensboro, Charlotte, Rutherfordton and North Wilkesboro prior to her current residence in Oak Ridge, NC.

As a long-time employee of Shelba D. Johnson Trucking, Inc., Richard Tucker is a valuable member of the company’s management team. He has served numerous positions in the company and exemplifies the company’s policy of trying to promote from within to reward dedication and willingness to take on more responsible assignments. He began as a truck driver, working for Red Johnson. His responsibilities progressed until he was responsible for a very important delivery route in New Jersey. He has also served as Warehouse Supervisor at our Turnpike Terminal Location. The company’s sales staff reports to Mr. Tucker, who is responsible for marketing our Shelba D. Johnson Warehousing Logistics and Shelba D. Johnson Trucking truckload and ‘Less-than-Truckload’ operations.

Carol has been married to her husband John for over 30 years and they have five children; Hope, John, Jason, Venessa and Travis. She grew up in Darlington, Maryland and now resides in Denton, NC. Carol likes fishing, reading, restoring old photos and cooking. She especially likes spending time with her grandchildren.

Scott Denmark serves a very valuable role as Operations Manager for Shelba D. Johnson Trucking. In this role, he is responsible for Warehouse Operations, Dispatch and Drivers. Scott’s background includes experience at Old Dominion Freight Lines as Dock Supervisor, at L & J Motorlines as Warehouse Manager, at W & L Motorlines as Warehouse Manager as well as other trucking company operations exposure.
Scott likes “being the guy that people come to when they need the impossible to happen, and then making it happen anyway.” He likes the challenges that come from managing in an ever-changing industry.
Scott was born in Columbia, Missouri and has two children: Kevin and Kaci.
